Adelin Schweitzer

Adelin Schweitzer, from Marseille, France, stayed as a resident in Metal Liverpool for three weeks in order to develop his project Augmented Reality. This project was produced in association with Liverpool Culture Company as part of the Cities on the Edge programme. He was accompanied by the members of his team, Cedric Lachasse ( http://www.redsugar.org) and Antoine. His device, based on a Virtual Reality machine with a specifically designed interface, is enriched with a variety of graphic and sound distortions and has as its basic goal to manipulate the wearer’s perception of the environment. The residency led to two public displays of the device, one in Edge Hill station in Liverpool and one in Chalkwell Hall in Southend On Sea, during the Village Green festival. The results of these displays were discussed during a panel discussion involving artists and members of the scientific community, which was based on the uses and the risks of technology in connection to our perception of the surrounding environment. www.deletere.org, www.a-reality.org
