THE EDGE HILL PAVILION:  external work of art by Colombian duo Luis Fernando Peláez and Juan Manuel Peláez.  Part of the Liverpool wide Pavilion project for 2008. Throughout the year the site will host a variety of experimental acts and events, including theatre, live art and film screenings.

INTO FAR LANDS: Artist Katriona Beales has produced a permanent installation on the ceiling of the new performance space at Edge Hill Station. Drawing inspiration from early map-makers attempts to depict new worlds and the history of Edge Hill station as the place where the first railway journeys begun, ‘Into Far Lands’ comments on the potential of the performance space to house it’s own exploration of new territories through the arts.

GUIDED BY THE ECHO: Colombian artist Nelson Guzmán brings together a diverse range of material, such as newspapers, maps, photographs and notes collected during his 3 month residency at Metal in Liverpool.  In partnership with Open Eye projects and Visiting Arts Colombia-England exchange programme.

RED HOUSE (Bulgaria): A presentation and film screening of ‘Discovered Children’ (2007) about the experience of a spontaneously emerged team of people made up of mental health professionals, artists and deprived children from parental care, who are either homeless or living in state institutions.  The Red House Centre for Culture and Debate is a politically engaged arts organisation based in Sofia working with artists, young people and politicians to provide opportunities for discussion and learning.

CHRISTOPHER SIMPSON: Very Present Tense is a song-cycle charting the passage of a grief. 

Written over a number a years by Christopher Simpson in response to the loss of his mother, it is a testament of love and a statement of becoming. The songs, referencing diverse musical idioms like blues and Rwandan folk, have been developed in collaboration with Tom Havelock to create an intimate harmonic landscape of loss, love and hope.
