Paco Pena

Paco Peña is one of the world’s finest exponents of modern flamenco bringing the true spirit of the art form to audiences all over the world.  He is currently developing an ambitious new work Requiem Flamenco: In Praise of the Earth which is his contemporary interpretation of the traditional religious requiem mass.  The work speaks of internal, personalised spirituality, and in particular the relationship between the human heart and its universal environment.  It is Paco Peña’s homage to the Earth and the life it provides, whist lamenting the gradual erosion of its vital elements brought about by human progress.

Metal is working with Paco to create opportunities and partnerships for the performance of the work which will be developed and performed at the Eden Project during 2005.

Greenpeace are helping build capacity of the work through special projects and its 40 offices and 2.8 million members worldwide, and the Ecologist Magazine will act as a media partner supporting the work in the 150 countries where it is distributed.   Metal is working to establish local environmental and arts projects alongside key performances, to build collaborations with local choirs in countries where the work is performed, and to locate unique spaces in which to perform the work throughout the world.
