Delcy Morelos is a visual artist who lives and works in Bogota in Colombia.

Metal invited two senior Colombian artists, Luis Fernando Pelaez and Hugo Zapata into residence in 2003. We asked them to select a younger, emerging artist to invite to accompany them.  They selected Delcy Morelos.

Delcy spent five months living and working at Metal in West Hampstead, using the opportunity to explore her ideas around skin colour, politics and socio-economics.  She created a new piece of work in response to living in London.

Supported by Hugo and Luis, she also used the opportunity to expand her knowledge and networks within the UK, as well as taking a number of research trips to other parts of Britain, including a three week stay in Cornwall.

Metal exhibited Delcy’s large-scale painting for three months, hosting a number of debates and conversations around its subject matter with invited guests and other international and local artists.
