2012 will be the fifth year the art prize has taken place.

The top prize is £2000, plus an opportunity to exhibit their work. Visitors to the exhibition also have the opportunity to vote for their favourite artist to win the people's choice award (£1,000 prize).

2010

Metal has enjoyed a close relationship with the Liverpool Art Prize during its first two years, inviting 2008 finalist Mary Fitzpatrick to exhibit at the station and in 2009, Metal’s artists in residence, AL and AL, were winners of the award. Ian and Minako Jackson, founders of the Liverpool Art Prize and the driving force behind one of the UK’s leading art blogs artinliverpool.com, are long time friends of Metal.

In 2010, Metal worked in partnership with Artinliverpool.com to host the exhibition and prize night at Edge Hill Station. During the period of the exhibition, working with other visual arts organisations across the city and other locally-based artists, there also was a Liverpool Open Studios weekend on 12/13 June, artist talks, workshops, craft markets and other events.

The 2010 finalists were Gina Czarnecki, David Jacques, James Quin, Paul Rooney (winner of the 2008 Northern Art Prize) and Emily Speed.

Previous winners are AL and AL and Imogen Stidworthy, with the People’s Choice prizes going to Elizabeth Willow (2009), and the Singh Twins (2008).

Exhibition Dates: 4 June to 10 July 2010 (Private Viewing Thursday 3 June 18.00 - 21.00)
Awards Ceremony: Wednesday 30 June 2010 18.00 – 20.00
