International Programme

Each year Metal hosts up to eight Artists In Residence across our three sites, funded through our International Programme.

Artists working in a wide range of disciplines come to live and work with us, to develop their practice and form exciting ideas and projects in response to the cities and towns where Metal is based.

These residencies are awarded by invitation.   They are open-ended and exploratory in their nature, providing artists with the unique opportunity to develop new areas of their practice, have the space and time to experiment and take risks that can lead to new ambitions and breakthroughs with work and projects.

We work closely with partners around the world to research and locate artists whose practice  can contribute in exciting ways to our cultural development aims for each of our project spaces.

Artists come from all over the world and across the UK.

Metal have developed particular relationships and deeper partnerships with artists and organizations in Japan, India, China and Colombia.
