James Quin is a visual artist whose paintings are often described as narratives, exploring the contemporary life from an observer’s point of view. His pictures challenge people’s attitudes by showing the play between reality and unreality with unexpected and twisted outcomes. James Quin’s interest in Edge Hill Station is reflected in his painting for which he was shortlisted for the Liverpool Art Prize 2010 and received the People’s Choice award. James Quin is interested in the archival history of Edge Hill Station. While working with Metal, he will delve deeper into the past and the present of the station and interact with its passengers, presenting his interactions not only in painting and drawing in a traditional sense, but also using different technologies and techniques. James Quin was in residence at Metal Liverpool from November 2010 to November 2011
