Mehmet Sander is a Turkish choreographer and ‘action architect’ based in Istanbul. With his dance company he toured extensively internationally throughout the 1990s. His work is brutally modernist and importantly without music. During his residency he will be collaborating with sound technologist John Bowers for a new work to be premiered later in the year. John works with home-brew electronics, self-made instruments and contemporary digital technology. He is concerned with making performance environments, which combine sound, vision and human gestures at a material level.
