Matt Houghton is a director and photographer with an interest in finding the compelling in the everyday. An award-winning filmmaker, Matt has had short films screened at festivals around the world. His last short film Dear Araucaria, made in partnership with The Guardian, won the Audience Award at Sheffield Doc/Fest 2015.
As part of his residency, Matt is developing the surrounding content and outreach for a short film project called Landline. Landline is a hybrid documentary about the only helpline in the UK dedicated to LGBTQ farmers. Through a series of recorded telephone conversations and reconstructive visuals, the film will use the helpline as a lens through which to view the experiences of LGBTQ people in the British farming community.
