Melinda is originally from Southend-on-sea, Essex and studied Fine Art at Liverpool Hope University. She is interested in the physical qualities of material and works in a variety of formats, including painting, textiles, sculpture, photography, performance and film.
For the past three years, her work has concentrated on neuroticism and catharsis. The recent knitted wire film demonstrates a ritualistic, obsessive performance which questions art as a therapeutic activity. She considers the process of making as of equal importance to the final outcome; the time that is invested, the interaction with material and repetition are significant to her practice.
