About:

Renee Vaughan Sutherland

Renee works within filmmaking and expanded cinema. She has been developing the notion of the celluloid film as a performative sculptural element of her artwork.  During her residency at Chalkwell Hall Renee will use her base in Southend for research and development ahead of her exhibition at local arts space TAP in January 2015.  The two principles for the TAP exhibition are based on the building’s previous incarnation as a Pump House and the movement of water, both in relation to the space formally being a conduit for dispersal of water, but also Southend being located on the Thames Estuary, shaped by the tide of the river/sea.
