This is a chance to get a first viewing of the films and installations created by resident artists Barbara Dougan and Darren Ellis as part of their research. Local dancer Kate Marsh and Metal Senior Project Manager Sarah Haythornthwaite will chair an open discussion with both Barbara and Darren about their work as part of the evening.
Barbara Dougan is a visual artist based in Bury St Edmunds. She is currently in residence at Metal Peterborough as part of the Time and Space residency programme. Her practice explores concepts of threat, constraint, resistance and adaptation articulated through film, animation, print and drawing. Since February 2014 she has been working with the choreographer Darren Ellis. Together they have been developing new works with a dancer, trialing ideas for films, live performance and/or dance based film installation. They will use their time at Metal to create three new film installations to showcase their research, and to gain public feedback to inform the development of the work.
