Free cyanotype and sound-recording workshops at The Green Backyard, with artist Jessie Brennan
Visit The Green Backyard, explore the darkroom, make your own cyanotype (weather permitting – sunshine is best!) and contribute to the GBY audio archive by making a sound-recording telling why the place matters to you (personally, socially, environmentally, politically etc.). You need not already have been to The Green Backyard – first-timers welcome!
What is a cyanotype: A cyanotype is a photographic printing process that produces a cyan-blue print. Engineers used the process well into the 20th century as a simple and low-cost process to produce copies of drawings, referred to as blueprints. In its simplest terms, you coat a piece of paper with a solution, expose it to UV light covered by either a negative or objects, wash it out and presto, you’ve got a print. Jessie will take you through the process step-by-step.
Workshops are free (all materials provided), suitable for all ages, but spaces are limited due to the small size of the darkroom and therefore booking is required: Chauffeurscottage@metalculture.com | 01733 893077 | https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/free-cyanotype-and-sound-recording-workshops-at-the-green-backyard-with-artist-jessie-brennan-tickets-26118911367 .
