Metal is delighted to announce the continuation of the exciting partnership with Essex Book Festival, enabling us to transform Chalkwell Hall once again for the month of March.
Join us at Metal’s regular creative networking event Future Park, for an Essex Writers House special.
With a guest speaker and a take-over from a local writing group, we look forward to live sharings from some of the wordsmiths of Southend.
The evening begins with a talk from guest poet Sadie Davidson, winner of multiple poetry slams including Margate Bookie, You’re Bard! 9 and the Kent Poetry Championship.Sadie has published two collections, Tales from the Estate and the Poverty Guide Handbook with Whisky and Beards Publishing, and a spoken word album, Council House and Silent, released through Spoken Label. Sadie’s debut play, Bare Lies, premiered in 2018 at the Southend Festival, where she also curated the Essex Poetry Collective Show, before hosting Southend’s very first Poetry Slam in 2019.
Sadie will be sharing her journey through poetry, with live performances and sharings on her latest project, The Write Track – a brilliant new creative writing and mentorship programme developed for young people who might have difficulty accessing arts programmes. To find out more about Sadie’s work, click here – or come along and hear from her on the night.
Following a quick break, we hear from the writers round of 3 Minute Wonders.
Writers to be announced very soon!
Expect fast-paced poetry, a pop-up book shop and a celebration of writers from across Essex.
