About Pamela Johnson
Following a degree in Performing Arts (Music, Dance and Drama) majoring in Arts Administration, Pamela worked in a variety of marketing and fundraising roles for theatres in West Yorkshire before completing a postgraduate degree in Business. She worked for Arts Council England as the region’s first Audience Development Officer for Yorkshire and the Humber. Her role as Course Director/Senior Lecturer for the Arts Management degree at Anglia Ruskin University involved delivering audience development, marketing and fundraising teaching programmes at postgraduate level. She was also invited to be a visiting lecturer for City University’s MA Cultural Policy and Management degree in London for four years.
Pam’s published work includes a toolkit on Audience Development Planning, Donor Research into the behaviour of individuals who give to culture and heritage and research on good practice in the development of Family Audiences. Other authored resources include guidance toolkits for The Audience Agency and articles for Arts Professional and other industry publications.
As a consultant she has worked extensively in the cultural sector on a national basis. Her work includes: audience strategy development and plans to support ACE/HLF applications; undertaking research and analysis; report writing to inform business plans and delivery of bespoke training for organisations and individuals.
