Essex born playwright and TV Writer Vickie Donoghue will lead you through a half day workshop on how to write for the Stage, TV, and Radio.

Highlights from the workshop will include:

1) Creating ideas from a sense of place.

2) How to create dramatic action.

3) How to create brilliant dialogue.

4) How to develop and nurture your voice as a writer.

 

The workshop is open to writers of any level, and there will be time to ask Vickie all sorts of questions throughout the session. The workshop is run as a partnership between Metal, Eastern Angles Theatre Company and Peterborough Presents. This workshop is being run in the morning and again in the afternoon.

About Vickie:

Vickie Donoghue is a playwright and writer for TV. Her debut full-length play, Mudlarks, was developed through High Tide’s Escalator Programme and produced by The Bush, following its premiere at the 2012 High Tide Festival. Other plays by Vickie include Tender Loving Care (New Theatre Royal Portsmouth, 2014), Game Over (The Garage, Norwich; The Cut, Halesworth; both 2014) , Aperture (Live Lunch – Royal Court, 2015), Weakling a one act play which was part of SCRIPTED – New voices response to the Sarah Kane season (Sheffield Crucible June 2015), The Path (HighTide Festival, September 2016) as one of seven writers to compose a short play designed to be listened to through headsets in locations throughout Aldeburgh and Hidden a stage adaptation of the novel by Miriam Halahmy which toured throughout the South East of England in the autumn 2018 . She is an Associate Artist of The Mercury Theatre, Colchester.

 

For TV, Vickie was on the inaugural BBC Drama Writers’ Scheme. She was named on the BBC Hot-list 2017 and is currently developing work with Forge Entertainment, Red Planet pictures and Studio Lambert.

 

Vickie’s first Radio play The Gift produced by David Hunter for BBC Radio 4 was broadcast in September 2018. She is currently writing a 10 part Podcast drama for BBC Sounds with fellow playwright Natalie Mitchell due to be broadcast in Spring 2020.

 

Vickie was longlisted for the Evening Standard Theatre Awards as Most Promising New Playwright 2012 and in 2013 was shortlisted for the Royal National Theatre Foundation Playwright Award.
