Helen Stratford and Idit Nathan are two artists currently in residence at METAL. They are planning a new exciting project involving the development of a mobile App to encourage people to see parts of Peterborough in a new light. The App will be launched and available as a free download at Peterborough Arts Festival in September 2015 but before then Helen and Idit are looking for local people to help with research. They are looking for people from all walks of life and abilities to help create the app through sharing memories, stories and views on Peterbrorough.
We would like to invite you to join Helen and Idit on the 18th April for an introductory walk around selected parts of Peterborough, specially developed for people who have links with community groups in the city. At the walk you will meet Helen and Idit who will tell you about the project for you to feed back to your groups and invite/organise for them to attend some participatory walks in May.
From early May, Helen and Idit will be organising a series of public events for people to contribute their thoughts and ideas. These will be inspiring and participatory walks around selected parts of the city using props, prompts and games to encourage people to share their memories and stories about their city. These will be used to create the App.
The walk on the 18th will start from Chauffeurs cottage at 2pm with a short introduction by the artists followed by a walk lasting around an hour in the city centre, returning to Chauffeurs cottage for tea, cake and sharing of ideas.
If you cannot make the 18th but would still like to be involved you can meet Helen and Idit next week at Future Network on 2nd April at 6pm or please call Metal on 01733 893077 as the artists are also organising a limited number of special workshops outside of the public dates to allow as many people as possible to be involved.

More about Play Peterborough Now Or Never!
Play Peterborough Now Or Never! is a new mobile app that will encourage residents and visitors alike to explore our city. The playful App for mobile devices will take people on an interactive ‘live art’ journey around their city to experience and engage with it in a fresh, imaginative and mischievous way. The app will use innovative geo mapping technologies in combination with everyday mobile devices to give users visual and audio prompts suggesting specific actions or tasks as they walk around the city. These prompts will encourage them to look, listen, think and interact with other people, with the result that they will see a familiar landscape in a whole new light.
Play Peterborough Now Or Never! is the brainchild of artists Helen Stratford and Idit Nathan who have been researching the way we interact with inner city open spaces and the threats that redevelopment and changed use of use of public areas are affecting us and the way we see our towns and cities.
