About Dean

Poet Dean Atta was named as one of the most influential LGBT people in the UK by the Independent on Sunday. He regularly performs across the UK and internationally and was previously
a judge of the 2018 BBC Young Writers’ Award. Following the youth café Dean will be reading an extract from his latest young adult novel in verse The Black Flamingo; a book he would have liked

to have read as a teenager coming to terms with his identity as a mixed-race gay teen.

LGBTQIA+ Youth Café is a FREE pop up social group programmed by young people for teenagers. The café is open from 1st – 5th July, 4 – 7pm and will be safe and friendly space to get involved
