COMING UP NEXT AT FUTURE PARK…

We’re very much looking forward to our next Future Park which is not far away; just in sight beyond our summer break.

We’ve got big talks from exciting artist Sophie Chapman who collaborates with Kerri Jefferis, and you’ll get to meet the new artists who will comprise the cohort of boundary-pushing Alternative Art Education Model TOMA 2017-18, who will all be doing 3 Minute Wonders; presenting themselves, their work and practice, and anything else which may pop out out of their mouths in the race against the clock in front of you, the friendly audience.

As always, the evening is free, with a donations bar, and will be a lovely way of meeting new people, networking, talking creativity, or simply hanging back and listening if you feel shy.

Come and enjoy an evening at the tail end of summer here in beautiful Chalkwell Park and store up the creative inspiration for the winter months.

MORE ABOUT SOPHIE CHAPMAN:

Description: Sophie Chapman, of Sophie Chapman & Kerri Jefferis, will present (put on your best blockbuster movie announcement voice for this next bit) an “ARTIST TALK” about Sophie Chapman & Kerri Jefferis’ collaborative nuisance making. This is not limited to but will include chat about: the virtues of being two, the politics of working together as women, working in the margins/intersections of education/activism/art, cheese & pineapple, and working out if you are even that radical tho. (20mins) Then: humming together, an exercise after Pauline Oliveros& Ultra-red (10mins). Bring snacks.
Bio:
Sophie Chapman and Kerri Jefferis are an artist duo that orchestrate situations and very often work in the public realm. Sometimes the work is in the experience and therefore transitory, and at other times it manifests in publication, installation or film. They are interested in how art can puncture and punctuate activating the social imaginary with gesture, play and interventionist actions. Their practice is expanded, and spills out into their self-organising and the (exceptionally good) band Molejoy. Their work commonly cites specific lineages such as feminist consciousness raising and dada-esque rejections of logic or value.

Kerri and Sophie recently contributed to Teaching for People Who Prefer not to Teach edited by Rosalie Schweiker and Mirjam Bayerdörfer, completed Less Navels, March! March! An online/offline residency on The White Pube, collaborated with members of Ultra-red during the Antiuniversity 2017 and were invited to instigate at both Feminist Emergency (Birkbeck University, London) and What is Feminist Pedagogy? (Valand Academy, Gothenburg).
