This show brings together TOMA artists Emma Edmondson + Gemma Louise
Shaw with work referencing the passing of time + contemplating ways to make work in a
time poor society. 21st century living often finds art making slotted between the school
run, life admin and day jobs. How can we be creative without much time to spare?
Emma Edmondson brings together to-do lists of people who have worked with TOMA in
any shape or form in a bid to give a viewing platform to the hidden labour behind all
artists’ + practitioners’ varied day to day roles. She also includes the beginnings of some
artwork lists to do with cups of tea, the studio + teaching art to make ends meet.
Gemma Louise Shaw shows a collection of automatic drawings considering time, and a
new series of work with knots. Throughout the show Gemma will run a series of
immersive sessions calling on the public to sit with her to make and discuss knots.
