You are invited to a life drawing event, Truth is Beauty
at: TOMA Project Space, Unit 13, Royals Shopping Centre, Southend on Sea, SS1 1DG
Saturday 4 August 2018: 4.30pm – 6.30pm
Metal artist-in-resident Claire Collison is a breast cancer survivor who chose not to have reconstructive surgery following her mastectomy. During the drawing event she will link this part of her life with her life modelling and story-telling – followed by a discussion about women, health and representation, the body politics of life modelling and related matters.
No previous drawing experience required –
Whilst women artists are extremely welcome, this free event is open to all women – regardless of their previous drawing experience – and especially welcomes women with personal experiences of breast cancer, providing a safe space for sensitive discussion. Please bring an open heart and mind along with your sketch pad (some art materials will be provided).
Participation in this event means you will automatically be increasing the visibility of unreconstructed women: drawings from the event (with your credits and permissions) will be documented for Claire’s archive, and also shown the following day at Metal Art School, Chalkwell Park, Chalkwell Avenue SS0 8NB.
Book your FREE place onto Truth is Beauty HERE. If you would like further information or to talk about what to expect please contact us on firstname.lastname@example.org / 01702 470700
