Flowers on the Train, Dreams on the Line
Artists-in-residence The Suitcase Ensemble have been a running a weekly drama group for the past three months called Soundtracks. The group have been meeting at the station learning new drama skills and developing a performance which was premiered at the station on Monday. 'Flowers on the Train, Dreams on the Line' was a promenade style performance around the station, with a mix of music, drama, poetry, storytelling, puppetry and dance combining each of the group's many talents. We look forward to seeing more from this group!

Following a fantastic Salon evening at Metal earlier this year, writers Samantha Ellis and Naomi Alderman are coming back to Chalkwell Hall in Southend on Sea to spend a week in residence. During their stay they would like interested artists and audience to a reading of Samantha’s new, as yet unpublished play and a short story by Naomi at an evening party in celebration of the first night of Chanukah - the Jewish eight day festival of light on Wednesday 1 Dec – 7pm – 9.30pm.
The play, Eating My Heart Out For Iraq, is about Gertrude Bell, the British bluestocking who drew Iraq's borders, wrote its constitution, designed its flag and chose its first king. Samantha is a second-generation Iraqi Jew and was first told the story by her grandfather who remembered seeing Gertrude Bell riding her horse along the banks of the Tigris dressed all in white.
In this informal playreading, you can take one of the roles to read, or just listen, and there'll be a chance to ask questions at the end. It's a work-in-progress and this reading is part of the creative process; hearing the play will help Samantha take it to a final draft. Entry is FREE.
As it's the first night of Chanukah, Samantha and Naomi will lalso be lighting candles, serving mulled wine and zangoola (Iraqi Jewish orange blossom doughnuts), aubergines, mango pickle and more.

FUTURE STATION: The Festival finishes tomorrow
The Future Station Festival closes tomorrow with a performance by Iris Collective 'Healing the Maternal Line'. The performance is informed by Japanese Butoh and Somatic practise. This Saturday at Edge Hill Station we held an afternoon of art, music, film, dance, performance, brass band and Ganzfeld!! for the Future Station festival.

Events continue all this week with the exhibition open Tues-Fri 2-6pm and Sat 12-4pm. Border-Less; a multimedia interactive performance opens tomorrow and on Thursday for the Long Night until 9pm. There will also be a second chance to experience The Ganzfeld Machine on Thursday from 6-9pm. FUTURE STATION: The Festival Saturday 13 November
Former members from Edge Hill’s British Rail Brass Band will meet at Edge Hill Station on Saturday 13th November for a one-off performance that will begin a whole evening of festivities.
Other activities will include: live music from newly formed Ray Charles tribute band; 'Ray of Charles', alternative Liverpool rock band Lovecraft, a second opportunity to see Paul Fred Kelly's film 'Pam's Alterations' (with the live score performed by Rebecca Joy Sharp), an interactive multimedia performance The Ganzfeld Machine by Ailie Rutherford and Bob Moyler, a work in progress performance from The Suitcase Ensemble; 'Look at Us Now', music from DJ Robbi P, food and drink, and a chance to see the exhibition of Future Station members work from 12-6pm.
The festival day is free.

Pam's Alterations
Tomorrow night at 7pm, as part of the Future Station Festival, we will be screening 'Pam's Alterations' a new film by Paul Fred Kelly with a live score by Rebecca Joy Sharp taking a last thoughtful look at a large section of residential Wavertree just prior to its complete obliteration from the landscape.

Future Station: The Festival opens tomorrow!
The Future Station Festival opens tomorrow evening at 6pm with a preview of the exhibition featuring; Adrian Jeans, Jane Hughes, Terry Eagles, Barbara Galt, Mark Tierney, Jodie Mellor, Kenny Thomas, Elena Skensberg, Phil Lockhart, Chelsie Lewis, Maxwell Hornby, Tony Garner, Jenny Porter and Mycroft Milverton.
It opens at 6pm until 9pm, all welcome.
The exhibition continues until 20th Nov and is open Sat 12- 4pm Tues-Fri 2-6pm.
Other events through the two weeks include; Tues 9th Nov 7pm Film screening with live music, on Sat 13th Nov 4- 10pm live music, Ganzfeld Machine, brass band performance, food and drink, and cabaret and on Thurs 18th Nov 6-9pm, for the Long Night, live action multimedia installation 'Border- Less' and The Ganzfeld Machine, and on Fri 19th Nov and Sat 20th Nov a performance 'Healing the Maternal Line' at 7pm.

DAVID ROTHERAY performing at Chalkwell Hall

In an evening of accoustic music, Hull-based songwriter David Rotheray will be performing his highly acclaimed 2010 album, 'The Life of Birds' at Chalkwell Hall on November 21st.
This performance will feature guest vocalists Bella Hardy and Jim Causley.

Metal Edge Hill wins Design Award
Shed KM our architects on the project attended the Roses Design Award ceremony last week in Manchester where the renovation of Edge Hill Station was awarded a silver in the category 'Architecture: Re-use of an existing building'.
