Chinese Artists' residency
Metal in Liverpool is currently hosting four artists from China; Zie Zhengjie, Hu Wenlong, Zheng Jiang, and Pu Yingwe. The four artists are each prizewinners of the John Moores Painting Prize China.
They visit Liverpool as part of Metal’s exchange programme with the Shanghai Art School, who in return, will receive the winner of the Shanghai Residency Award, one of the exciting prizes that featured in Metal’s annual Liverpool Art Prize. This year’s winner Claire Weetman is an artist based in St Helens who is a part of the collective ‘Post’. She will take up her residency in Shanghai in November.
Metal hosted a welcoming party for the four Chinese artists and last week, Zie Zhengjie, Hu Wenlong, Zheng Jiang, and Pu Yingwe gave presentations of their work and ideas at a really exciting dinner in the engine room at Edge Hill Station.
