Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly

Unfortunately, Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly, will not play at Village Green tomorrow, here is a letter from him explaining why:

'As shows go, Chalkwell Park is somewhere I've always wanted to play. Its where I used to play as a child, Its minutes from my house, from where I used to work and where I went to school. The opportunity to play an outdoor show in Southend is something, throughout the 8 years of this band, I've always wanted to do. I have been very excited about this show for a long time and I'd ask you kindly to bear that in mind when reading the following.

Over the last few weeks, things haven't felt right physically. Without going into too much detail, I'm not sure if I've ever felt this rough. In spite of this and some medical treatment this week, we got together last night to run through the set for the show. After 2 songs, It became apparent that there is no way I can play this show. As you can imagine I am absolutely gutted. There has been a correlation recently between physical exertion and the medical issue getting worse and thus for the sake of my own health, I am having to pull out of Village Green this weekend. So instead of hanging out with you all in the park having a good time, I'll be moping about in bed trying to recover.

This is not a decision I have taken lightly, to be honest, there is nothing more I could've tried to make this show happen. I'm not really sure if there is anything we can do to make it up to the guys from Metal/Village Green and to all of you who wanted to come to the show. We will aim to do a free all ages show in Southend as soon as I am able to do anything. Although it won't be the same as the park, we'll try our best to make it as fun as possible.

In regards to other shows over the summer, we shall see. I have some more tests this week so hopefully the doctors can get to the bottom of what is making me feel like this. Hopefully it's nothing to worry about, but physically, I cannot afford to take the risk, as the thought of another night in hospital is very unappealing.

As is always the case with me, I'd like to shoehorn some politics in. It's times like this where you truly appreciate the NHS. Free health care is a blessing we should not take for granted, you can never be quite sure when you'll need it. I have been very well looked after and could not thank the NHS enough.

Have a fantastic weekend at Village Green, enjoy the AMAZING Wilko Johnson and all the other acts over the weekend and once again, I am truly sorry I cannot be with you this weekend.

Thank you in advance for your understanding.

Sam'
