FEEDBACK FROM CLAIRE WEETMAN FROM 2012:

"Being awarded the Metal International residency award to Shanghai has resulted in a rapid period of development in my practice.  The four weeks spent in China were intensive, giving me the opportunity to respond to a new place - to be an outsider, something that I have learnt is valuable for me when I want to develop my work. I met and worked with a wide range of people, from China and beyond, have allowed elements of a different culture to influence the work that I make and have been able to dedicate time to understanding my work.  Changes have occurred in the way that I work as a direct result of my residency, including technical understanding of digital methods that I can employ, a greater use of contextualisation in my work and an enhanced sense of scale and ambition when I propose to present work."
