NetPark Southend on Sea

NetPark update:

On 16 June, the NetPark team met for a day of testing and sharing development on a glorious June day in Chalkwell Park. We were joined by Nesta’s Tim Plyming and Arts Council England’s Paul Glinkowski. The children of Chalkwell Hall Junior School presented their work in progress on their story app, developed with Lucy Sheerman and Maggie Li. In all, 50 children from Southend school’s will have developed a new story app, acquiring a range of practical and technical skills. This part of the project has been funded by the ROH Bridge organisation that supports work with young people across the region.

Rosie Poebright tested work in progress on her project, while Jamie Gledhill demonstrated his ‘Talking Trees’ augmented reality project. The gathered team where then treated to an informal demonstration of music sampling by Drew and Martin from Matmos.

Testing and development continues across June and July, as we begin to develop the web presence for NetPark and the signage with Malcolm Garrett (Images&Co).

NetPark is supported by the Digital R&D Fund for the Arts – Nesta, Arts & Humanities Research Council and public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England.
