THE LIVERPOOL ART PRIZE
The Liverpool Art Prize is a competition of contemporary art open to professional artists based or born in the Liverpool City Region of the United Kingdom. The exhibition and prize acknowledges the outstanding achievements of artists and their contribution to contemporary art within Liverpool and, as well as further afield. It aims to promote national awareness and discussion of contemporary art in the city and to support individual artists in developing their practices. 2012 will be the fifth year the art prize has taken place. Visitors to the exhibition will have the opportunity to vote for their favourite artist to win the people's choice award.

HERITAGE OPEN DAYS
Metal at Edge Hill Station opens its doors to the public as part of 'Heritage Open Days'. This is a weekend that celebrates England's architecture and culture by allowing visitors free access to interesting properties that are either not usually open, or would normally charge and entrance fee. Heritage Open Days also includes tours, events and activities that focus on local architecture and culture.

LIVERPOOL BIENNIAL 2012
For the first time Metal has been invited to become a host partner to The Liverpool Biennial 2012. This ten week festival showcases some of the best contemporary art in the world. The theme of this years festival is Hospitality. For the duration of the festival Metal will be transforming Edge Hill Station into a pop up cafe/salon. There will be artist commissions, discussion events and performances.
