ARTS AWARD is a nationally recognised scheme which can be based on any arts or media activity, which you can complete at Metal. Find out what inspires you, share your talents, and you’ll walk away with an award that makes a real difference in the world of work and the arts. There are no set rules on how you present your final work. You just need to be aged 11-16 and ready to explore new creative experiences.

Metal offers the Arts Award Course at both Bronze and Silver levels (for 11-16 year olds) and the Discover and Explore levels (for 5 – 10 year olds).   When courses are live, the sessions run on most Wednesdays after school between 4-6pm.  The courses are FREE but do require some contribution from students towards a couple of field trips and the certificate.

For information about the next course dates and details, please email Camilla Fox on

See Arts Award website for more details about Arts Award certificates.

Metal are proud to be an Arts Award Supporter.  This means that while we offer our own Arts Award courses, we can also offer support and opportunities for all Arts Award students from across Southend wherever you are doing the work to earn your certificate.  If you are involved in Arts Award and want to get involved in our wide range of creative activities such as our Shorelines Literature Festival and Village Green or our smaller scale events as points that count towards your Arts Award certificate, we will do our best to help you achieve this.  For more information, please email Camilla Fox on or call 01702 470700.
