Working class, Queer writer & theatre maker Matt May, will be in residence at Metal Peterborough. Conceived during a drunken one-night stand on his Nan Jan’s sofa in July 1988 he feels that was the perfect beginning for twenty-eight years of feeling not quite right. As a person and an artist Matt has often felt like he’s not quite sure where he fits, or if he is meant to be here, this is a large part of what he would like to explore during his residency.
Matt is passionate about mental health, particularly in the context of queerness. The impact of feeling other, combined with feeling disconnected from the spaces and community you’re told you should feel at home in. Fascinated by people and their stories he is interested in sharing some of his own and those of people he feels are not always represented in the arts.
