Fest en Fest – YOUTH
as part of Peterborough Celebrates Festival
Sunday 15th May 11am – 6pm @Ferry Meadows, Nene Park
Metal has been working with H2 Dance on their project, Fest en Fest – YOUTH. Fest en Fest invites young people including those from Peterborough College to come together and think about what a festival of the future might look and feel like. Students from Peterborough College will be taking over a tent as part of the Peterborough Celebrates Festival at Nene Park, running and curating a mini festival (fest en fest) as they want it to be, commissioning three local artists to work with in collaboration with H2DANCE.
The students have chosen the themes of wellbeing and nature for their tent. Activities include:
- Plant pot painting and doodle table with artist Sa’adiah Khan
- Wellness embroidery with artist Sophie Neville
- Musical performances from Yvonne Hercules and Peterborough College students
- Poetry performances by the Peterborough College Students
- Pop up art exhibition of the students artwork
The tent will also include a ‘chill out’ area, all activities will be drop in and family friendly.
In 2022 Fest en Fest – YOUTH will run over four locations: Peterborough, Colchester, Cambridge UK, and Serta Portugal. With local young people to taking part in each other’s festivals and developing their own networks, connections and opportunities.
Fest en Fest – YOUTH will have its UK premiere in Peterborough during May taking over a tent as part of Peterborough Celebrates festival.
ABOUT: H2DANCE/Fest en Fest – YOUTH
Fest en Fest is an international festival of expanded choreography initiated and curated by Hanna Gillgren (SE) and Heidi Rustgaard (NO) from H2DANCE (www.h2dance.com) in collaboration with producer Natalie Richardson (UK).
Fest en Fest is a concept making space for artists and audiences to come together and present live works and ideas, to discuss, provoke, influence and be a force for change. Through performances, talks, lunches and parties, H2DANCE’s aim is to present a programme of UK & Nordic artists working across dance & performance.
Fest en Fest piloted in June 2018 in Deptford London, with a second festival in February 2022 in Deptford, Colchester and Cambridge.
H2DANCE has since developed two more strands; Fest en Fest – LAB which takes more of a research and process angle, and Fest en Fest –YOUTH, a curatorial project for and with young people inspired by Reykjavik’s Dance Festival “TEEN in Reykjavik”.
